“I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. …I will confirm my covenant with [Isaac], and his descendants as an everlasting covenant” (Gen 17:7, 19, NLT). “…Now that you belong to Christ, you are the true descendants of Abraham, and all of God’s promises to him belong to us” (Gal 3:29, NLT/TLB). “…I told them: ‘Obey Me and I will be your God, and you will be my people…’” (Jer 7:23, NLT). “If you listen to what I tell you and walk in my path and do whatever I consider right, obeying my commandments as my servant David did, then I will bless you; and your descendants shall rule Israel forever…” (1 Kings 11:38, TLB). “…If you will follow the paths I set for you and do all I tell you to, then I will put you in charge of my Temple, to keep it holy; and I will let you walk in and out of my presence with these angels” (Zech 3:7, TLB). “…I will give you a long life if you follow Me and obey My laws…” (1 Kings 3:7-14, TLB). “Oh that My people would listen to me! Oh that Israel would follow Me, walking in my paths” (Pss 81:13, NLT)! “…Solomon… abandoned [the Lord] and worshiped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians; Chemosh, the god of Moab; and Molech, the god of the Ammonites. He has not followed my ways and done what is pleasing in my sight. He has not obeyed my decrees and regulations…” (1 Kings 11:33, TLB). The nation also, “…have deserted Me, [and] they burn incense to worthless idols. They have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy paths” (Jer 18:15, NLT). “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls…’” (Jer 6:16, NLT).
