God Wants Friendship With People
“There are “friends” who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Prov 18:24, TLB). “…Abraham trusted God, and… he was… called the friend of God” (Jam 2:23, TLB). God “…singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just…” (Gen 18:19, NLT). “You are my friends if you do what I command. …I have told you everything the Father told me” (John 15:14-15, NLT). “…This world is fading away, and these evil, …things will go with it, but whoever keeps doing the will of God will live forever” (1 John 2:17, TLB). Therefore, “…making friends with God’s enemies—the evil pleasures of this world—makes you an enemy of God. …If your aim is to enjoy the evil pleasures of the unsaved world, you cannot be a friend of God” (Jam 4:4, TLB).
