What Shall We Do To Satisfy God - XXIV?
“Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches” (Rev 2:5, NLT). The lampstand has historical value (Exo 25:31-37). Its “…seven lamps, …at the top…, [housed] a reservoir for… olive oil that [fed] the lamps… through seven tubes…” (Zech 4:2-6, TLB). The priests in the earthly Tabernacle poured olive oil into the lampstand to keep the lamps burning continually (Exo 27:20-21, TLB). Today, God’s holy people are His priests (1 Pet 2:9); their bodies are His temple (1 Cor 6 :19), and God’s Word is the lamp that gives perpetual light (Pss 119:105; Prov 6:23, NRSV). “…Let us walk in the light of the Lord and be obedient to His laws” (Isa 2:5, TLB). “…Walk in the light as He… is in the light…” (1 John 1:7, NRSV).
