“[Just as] the rain and snow [that] come down from the heavens… cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry…; it is the same with My Word. I sent it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to…” (Isa 55:10-11, NLT). “At… Bethel, …Jeroboam was approaching the altar to burn incense. Then at the Lord’s command, [a man of God] shouted, ‘O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: A child named Josiah will be born into the dynasty of David.

“…Moses received life-giving words to pass on to us; but our ancestors refused to listen to Moses. They rejected him and wanted to return to Egypt. …So they made an idol shaped like a calf, and they sacrificed to it…. Then God… abandoned them to serve the stars of heaven as their gods…. You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? …Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute… ” (Acts 7:38-42, 51-52, NLT)? “O Jerusalem, …the city that kills the prophets and stones all those God sends to her…” (Matt 23:37, TLB).

Sometimes, God’s people have despised the prophetic gift. “From the day your ancestors left Egypt until now, I have continued to send my servants, the prophets…” (Jer 7:25, NLT), “…saying: ‘…Do not this abominable thing that I hate” (Jer 44:4). “…Turn from your wicked ways; …start doing things right. Stop worshiping other gods…, but you would not listen… or obey Me” (Jer 35:15; 25:4-5; 2 Kings 17:13, NLT). “These people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the Lord’s instructions. …They tell the prophets, ‘Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things.

Historical precedence has been set. Daniel had dreams (Dan 7 & 8) and God used Gabriel to clarify Daniel’s dreams (Dan 8:16-19, TLB), so much so that both of them were familiar with each other (Dan 9:21, TLB). And this same “…Gabriel, [who]… stand in the very presence of God, was… [also] sent… [to give] good news” to Zechariah (Luke 1:11-19, NLT). What can we expect in the time of the end. “In the last days, God said, ‘I will pour out My Holy Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions.

“Again and again down through the years, God has sent you His servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention” (Jer 25:4, NLT). “We have NOT obeyed the Lord our God, for we have NOT followed the instructions He gave us through His servants the prophets” (Dan 9:10, NLT), “until the Lord finally swept them away from His presence, just as all His prophets had warned. So Israel was exiled from their land…” (2 Kings 17:23, NLT). “…The Lord sent bands of Babylonian, Aramean, Moabite, and Ammonite raiders against Judah to destroy it…” (2 Kings 24:2, NLT).

“…God does nothing unless He reveals His secret… to His… prophets” (Amos 3:7; 2 Kings 21:10, NASB); but the counterfeit exists. “If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does NOT… come true, …the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without [God’s] authority and need NOT be feared” (Deut 18:22, NLT). “Beware…” (Matt 7:15)! “…Many false prophets, [like ‘…Barjesus’ (Acts 13:6) and ‘…Satan’s… servants’ (2 Cor 11:14-15, NASB)], will appear and lead many astray” (Matt 24:11, TLB). “Be sober…” (1 Pet 5:8).

“Moses continued, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him’” (Deut 18:15, NLT). Some examples include Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, Oded, and Obadiah (1 Sam 3:20 & 19:20; 1 Kings 18:22; 2 Kings 3:11; 2 Chron 28:9; 1 Kings 18:24). “…His Spirit [was] upon them” (Num 11:29; 1 Sam 10:10-11) and their role was to prophesy (1 Sam 10:5 & 19:20) because “…there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets…” (Dan 2:28, TLB). “The Lord our God has secrets known to no one.
