“We were… buried with Him through baptism into death…” (Rom 6:4, NIV). “He… carried our sins… on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right…” (1 Pet 2:24, NLT). “…Strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, …and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us” (Heb 12:1, TLB). “…Your attitudes and thoughts must… be constantly changing for the better” (Eph 4:23, TLB). “…Have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven…” (Col 3:3, TLB).
“[Just as] the rain and snow [that] come down from the heavens… cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry…; it is the same with My Word. I sent it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to…” (Isa 55:10-11, NLT). “At… Bethel, …Jeroboam was approaching the altar to burn incense. Then at the Lord’s command, [a man of God] shouted, ‘O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: A child named Josiah will be born into the dynasty of David.
“…I [will] give you the law and commandments I have written on tablets of stone…” (Exo 24:12; 31:18; 34:1 & 4; Deut 4:13; 5:22; 9:10, TLB). Place them inside the Ark (Exo 25:16 & 21-22; 1 Kings 8:9, TLB). These laws are still relevant today (Matt 5:17-19). In contrast, “Take this Book of the law and put it in the side of the ark…” (Deut 31:26; 29:21; 30:10; Josh 1:8; Neh 8:3). These additional writings were given to “…bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith; [but] …after faith… [came], we are no longer under… [the law]” (Gal 3:24-25, NKJV).
God offered the invitation: “I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people” (Lev 26:12, NKJV). “…I have given you the choice between life and death…. …Choose life…. Make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. …And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors…” (Deut 30:19-20, NLT). “If you listen to these regulations and faithfully obey them, the Lord your God will keep his covenant of unfailing love with you, as he promised with an oath…” (Deut 7:12, NLT).
“My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender, green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance… to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way; …we did not care” (Isa 53:2-3, NLT). “The Lord, the Redeemer and the Holy One of Israel, says to the one who is despised and rejected by the nations…, ‘Kings will stand at attention when you pass by.
